Update Delta's Game-Changing Security Protocol Launches in Atlanta Starting July 31, 2025, Delta Air Lines will initiate a new program aimed at saving valuable time for travelers at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), the world’s busiest airport. This pilot program, developed in collaboration with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), introduces streamlined security protocols specifically for passengers arriving from London with onward connections to other destinations. Eliminating Hassles for Connecting Travelers Travelers often face a daunting series of hurdles when connecting flights after international arrivals; these include clearing passport control, retrieving checked luggage, rechecking bags, and navigating security once again. Delta’s new system will lessen these burdens—allowing passengers to be processed swiftly right after stepping off the plane. Bags will be automatically transferred to their connecting flight, akin to domestic travel, significantly reducing overall wait times. Expanding Access with Global Entry and Mobile Apps To maximize the benefits of this new initiative, passengers are encouraged to enroll in Global Entry or download the free CBP Mobile Passport Control app, which will streamline the check-in process further. By doing this, flyers can transition from international to domestic flight connections in a more seamless manner, potentially spending more time enjoying airport lounges rather than waiting in long lines.
